Jaguar tunes its XKR roadster to meet its competitors, the BMW M6, the BMW M Coupe, the Mercedes SL65 AMG, the Mercedes CL65 AMG, the Mercedes CLK55 AMG, the Mercedes SLK55 AMG and perhaps the Mercedes SLR McLaren. Jaguar designer Ian Callum states that in the new XK, weight has been decreased by 350 pounds. This is accomplished by plastic body panels hung onto the ultralight aluminium frame. Weight is further reduced through using ultralight alloy wheels. Jaguar also claims that the car could reach 100km/h in 5 seconds and has a top speed of 257km/h. Will the newXK outrun its competitors? We'll see.
